Chinese New Year Celebration​ 20th January 2023

Huat a wonderful day as we welcomed the year of the rabbit with fun games, exciting activities and the tossing of lohei at Camberley Preschool on 20th January 2023. The children got to learn more about the Chinese culture and took part in Chinese traditions such as the exchanging of oranges and greetings amongst one another. Here’s wishing all families a rabbit Lunar New Year filled with prosperity and good health. Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Dragon Boat Festival on 14th June 2021.

端午安康!May you have peace, health, sweetness, wealth and happiness. The children celebrated Dragon Boat Festival through singing and dancing of songs, making of the 粽子 (zong zi) also known as sticky rice dumplings on 14th June 2021. 

The Dragon Boat Festival, which commemorates Qu Yuan, a third-century poet and political figure of the state of Chu in ancient China. We learnt about the history and practices of the festival through videos and stories. The children were also introduced to some of the main ingredients of the rice dumpling, as well as the purpose behind it. They helped to scoop and pour the toppings into the folded bamboo leaves before the teacher tied them up into triangular shapes. Additionally, the children were given a simple matching activity, and had fun challenging one another to a dragon boat race.

Singapore’s 56th Birthday on 6th August 2021

We celebrated Singapore’s 56th Birthday on 6th August 2021. Teachers and children were dressed up in red and white, colours of our Singapore flag, and recalled about the history, people and icons of Singapore through videos and discussions. We sang the National Anthem, said our Pledge and sang this year’s theme song – The Road Ahead. We had fun playing games like charades, snakes and ladders, puzzles and match the logo. Happy Birthday Singapore!

Mid-Autumn Festival on 21st September 2021

We celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival on 21st September 2021. We recalled the origin story of the festival – Chang’e and Hou Yi and discovered some traditions practices over the world. We also explored the mooncakes and pomelo, food that we savour on this day. We then participated enthusiastically in activities and games, such as kneading our very own mooncakes using play dough, pounding "muah chee" with flour, decorating our mini lanterns, carrying lanterns and taking a walk in the school, and balancing a pomelo using sticks.

Racial Harmony Day Celebration – 21 July 2021

Every 21st of July, we celebrate the diversity of our country and foster inclusiveness, respect, and the fact that we all belong. On this day, the children, and teachers of Camberley Preschool @ Balmoral came donned in traditional and colourful costumes from around the world and learned more about each culture, their clothes, cuisine and games, before taking part in fun and exciting activities thereafter.

The children learned the essence of celebrating the event and that Racial Harmony Day is celebrated every 21st of July to foster harmony and understanding among all communities in our nation
